Timing and scheduling

How long does an appliance repair actually take?

Short answer

Most repairs are finished inside an hour to ninety minutes, diagnosis included, and more than nine out of ten are completed on the first visit because the part is already on the van. Sealed-system refrigerator work and anything needing an ordered part takes longer.

Why the first visit usually finishes it

We stock the common failure parts for the brands we see most in Quad Cities homes. Belts, pumps, valves, thermostats, igniters, door switches, heating elements — the things that actually fail — ride on the van rather than being ordered after the fact.

This is also why we ask for the model number when you book. It tells us the parts platform, which tells us what to have on board. A five-second question on the phone regularly saves a second trip.

What takes longer

Sealed-system refrigeration work — compressors, leaks, recharging — is a different class of job and is scheduled as such. So is anything requiring a part that no van reasonably carries, like a model-specific control board or a discontinued component.

When a part has to be ordered we tell you the expected wait before you commit, not after.

What we need from you

Clear access to the appliance, someone over eighteen at home to authorise the work, and pets settled somewhere else. None of that is fussiness — it is the difference between an hour and two.

Still not sure how this applies to your machine? Call and ask — we would rather answer a question over the phone than have you guess. We cover Rock Island, the Quad Cities and every community within 50 miles.

Short answers. Each one has a page of its own if you want the reasoning behind it.

How fast can you get to me?

In the Quad Cities core — Rock Island, Moline, East Moline, Davenport, Bettendorf — a morning call very often becomes a same-day appointment. Further out in the 50-mile radius we schedule you into the next run in that direction, usually within a few days.

Can I get same-day appliance repair?

Often, yes — particularly if you call in the morning and you are within about fifteen miles of Rock Island. We do not promise it universally, because a small shop that promises same-day everywhere is a shop that is about to break that promise.

What does appliance repair cost?

A repair breaks into two parts: a diagnostic charge for coming out and finding the actual fault, and then the repair itself, which is quoted before any work starts. You hear the diagnostic figure on the phone before you book, and nothing begins until you say yes.

Should I repair my appliance or replace it?

Rough guide: if the repair costs more than about half what a comparable new machine costs, and the appliance is past two-thirds of its expected life, replacing is usually the better call. Below that, repairing almost always wins on cost and on waste.

Appliance down? Let’s get it fixed.

Same-day service in most cases across the Quad Cities and 50 miles around. Talk to a real technician, not a call center.

Greg was recommended to me and they said if Greg can’t fix it you’ll probably have to buy new. He was prompt, honest about what was wrong, and completely professional. In my 57 years he is the most honest and personable repair man I have ever met.
